Bacon and leek is a match made in heaven, combine this with some egg and you have yourself first class breakkie that will only take 10 minutes out of your morning routine and not only will guarantee you a protein fix, dose of greens but will not leave a hole burning in your pocket.
Most mornings I vary my breakfast, some of my favourites from the last month are this one, this one and this one. I do not have the same day in day out. The reason being is as much as we need mental stimulation on a daily basis, otherwise we would go crazy. Think of your inside body needing that “mental stimulation” too, we achieve this by varying our diet on a regular basis.
I took this little dish to the next level with a teaspoon of hot english mustard, it added that little bit extra depth of flavour.
Why is this good for you:
Leeks a member to the onion family. Provide many beneficial properties, this book states that leeks can be useful for fighting infection, anaemia and provide anti-bacterial, anti-viral and anti-fungal actions. They can also help lower blood pressure, due to the sulfur compounds it contains.
Bacon is not the best source of protein you can get, but it is delicious in moderation. I would recommend getting free range/organic nitrate free bacon. However bacon is a full protein as well as Free range organic eggs, which contain all of the essential amino acids which are necessary for nourishing, replenishing and repairing tissue, skin and muscles.
