The result from some experimentation in the kitchen and by round two I had come up with a fabulous crunchy crumbed chilli and honey chicken wings, they are baked in the oven, no deep frying and just as finger licking good.
Chicken wings are a delicious inexpensive part of the chicken which is perfect for dinners with your mates or weekend feasts. Crumbed in sunflower seeds which were blitzed into a meal, they are also so much cheaper than almond meal and more readily accessible, sesame seeds, chilli, salt and for the last 10 minutes they are drizzled in honey to crispy and caramelise.
Baking your chicken instead of frying it in oil is a much healthier way to eat it. I used sunflower meal instead of breadcrumbs, so it is highly suitable for gluten intolerance, paleo etc.
Why is it good for you:
Chicken is a good source of lean protein, full of all of the essential amino acids which are used for immunity and also tissue/cell repair. Sunflower seeds are high in magnesium and potassium which is essential for healthy nerve function, heart and boosts you with energy. Sesame seeds are high in calcium which is great for bone repair, hair and nails.
Sideline this dish with a big green salad and some baked potatoes and you have a winning weekday/end feast. Goes swimmingly well with my homemade tomato ketchup too.
