I would love to share with you a little area of France which is not widely known and it is not the generic place that the seasoned traveller might end up. However, this beautiful area known as the Gaillac region is stunning unspoilt rolling French countryside, with privately owned rolling vineyards boasting marvellous selections of whites, rose and reds. It is situated in the area of Tarn and is located about 60km from Toulouse airport.
Surrounded by 13th century fortress villages on top of steep hilltops. This area is truly beautiful and it is a must if you are travelling through.
My dad owns a 18th Century converted barn situated just outside the tiny and quaint village of Souel (pronounced Swell) about an hour East from Toulouse airport, the barn is called “Foun Grande” … no one really knows why but it really is beautiful.
Nestled between vineyards sweeping into the back of the property and surrounded by lots of flora an fauna to shade one from the midday heat.
An inviting balmy 27c salt water pool guaranteed to help you cool off after an afternoon of scoffing your face French delicacies such as Fois Gras and panfried Duck breast.
Some of my days were spent here by the pool
For Dad and the boys it was a little bit of sun bathing and book reading…
For me… the perfect excuse to burn off a bit of excess energy prancing around in an awesome Stretcheyz Surf Suit which is perfect to protect my fair skin (SPF50+) from the midday heat and great to do some lengths in.
I would definitely recommend getting ones of these bad boys. Not only are they on sale at the moment. For you Aussies they are Bondi born and bred and 100% made in Australia.
The pool being a great spot for a few evening bevies too…
The barn is the perfect Winter or Summer escape. Comfortably sleeps 6 and a great one to share with family and friends.
Wanna come and see inside…
From the pool you enter the open planned dining and sitting room with a great wood burning fire for winter, a functional kitchen which leads off to two bedrooms (two singles and a double), one bathroom and a mezzanine office above the bedrooms. All tastefully decorated in a very relaxed style.
Downstairs is an extremely large master bedroom with en suite and behind that is a large garage with all washing facilities included, free wifi and BBQ facilities.
If you are thinking of heading over to Europe for a Summer adventure and were thinking of heading or hiring a property in France look no further than this perfect retreat (email me if you are interested or you can look online through Owners Direct). I cant wait to share with you surrounding areas in my up and coming blog posts. There is a lot to do but you can also sit back and relax in a stunning and very French wine tasting region of France.
Next Stop Cordes, Puycelsi and local markets only a stones throw away…
